Today the Smart Great Lakes Initiative (SGLi) announced a 33-day public comment period for the proposed “Common Strategy for Smart Great Lakes.”

Public review and comment is invited and will be accepted through Sept. 24, 2021.

Read the full document here.

What is the Common Strategy?

The “Common Strategy for Smart Great Lakes” charts a course for how the initiative will advance technology applications that improve understanding, use, conservation, and management of the Great Lakes.

The 24 page document establishes the key goals of the initiative around three issue areas:

  • Science, innovation, and technology.
  • Data and information.
  • Policy and management.

Why does giving your feedback matter?

The goals of the common strategy are far-reaching, and although SGLi partners represent a broad range of government, private, academic, and nonprofit interests, community feedback is critical for highlighting any missing pieces and making sure that the document presents a vision that is helpful to the broader Great Lakes community.

How can I give feedback?

The “Common Strategy for Smart Great Lakes” is available for review online. Please direct comments can be made to Katie Rousseau, Great Lakes Observing System at katie@glos.org no later than Sept. 24, 2021.
