On October 22, 2019, after a multi-year collaborative planning process involving stakeholders, partners, and board members, GLOS released a five-year strategic plan and launched the Smart Great Lakes Initiative.
The plan lays out the same vision the organization has always worked toward and articulates changes in the tactics used to achieve it. The changes reflect a changing region that has the capacity to be more connected than ever before and also has the potential to address harmful algal blooms, improve maritime safety, understand the lake floor, and more in new ways.
